Located in a lovely old quinta (a colonial house with an orchard garden) downtown in the peaceful Colonial Valladolid, the second important city in Yucatan, we see ourselves as facilitators for promoting the Spanish language as a vehicle for cultural communication.
We are dedicated to the idea that our students not only learn the language and the culture of Mexico, but also leave some things of themselves here.
LCY is deeply involved in the development of our community.

What we offer that other schools don't
  • Qualified and experienced native speaking teachers, specialized in language instruction.
  • Authorities in archaeology, anthropology and linguistics for master lectures.
  • University affiliation (affiliated to the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán through the Instituto Universitario de Oriente).
  • Intimate atmosphere in a peaceful colonial city away from mass tourism.
  • Personalized schedules.
  • Classes tailored to student needs and skill levels.
  • Maya language tutorials.
  • Closest colonial city to the "Maya Riviera" and Cancun.
  • 30 minutes from Chichen Itza and other Maya sites.
  • Partial scholarships in our four week intensive program for volunteers, teachers or medical professionals who help to promote education, physical and mental health in low income indigenous communities.

LCY is the home in Mexico of "Lang in Yucatán," a winter-break study-abroad program of Eugene lang College (the liberal arts division of The New School, New York, NY). Directed by Dr.Paul Ross, "Lang in Yucatán" teaches the history of Mexico through excursions to sites such as Chichen Itza, the convent of izamal, and the Museum of the Caste War in Tihosuco. Participants also study the Spanish and Maya languages.
